Serge Aurier Punished for Laurent Blanc, Zlatan Ibrahimovic Slur

Serge Aurier was suspended by Paris Saint-Germain for its match against Chelsea on Feb. 16 after a video surfaced of the defender appearing to insult both his manager Laurent Blanc and team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Goal.com reported Friday that Aurier will also have to train with the reserve team until March 20 as part of his punishment.

Aurier later apologised for his comments, saying, per Laurens: “I have made a big mistake. I am here to apologise to the coach, my teammates, the club and the fans.”

Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez reported that Aurier described team-mates Salvatore Sirigu and Gregory van der Wiel as “finished” and “s—e,” respectively.

According to Dominguez, the defender is also said to have told someone who lost a bet on PSG’s 0-0 draw with Lille, “I’ll give you [Edinson] Cavani’s address, get the money from him”; the striker missed a succession of chances during the game.

As relayed by Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Johnson on Feb. 14, Canal’s Pierre Menes claimed Aurier initially denied it was him talking in the video and was set to issue a statement citing “falsification.”
