WESTERLO – Ruth Peck Savino returned to the Lord Saturday October 16, 2021 after a long battle with stage IV breast cancer. She was born on December 1, 1957 and was a graduate of Berne Knox Westerlo Central School and The Westchester School for Medical and Dental Assistants. She was predeceased by her mother, Blanche “Peggy” Freleigh Peck, her father Charles H. Peck Jr. and her brother Charles “Skipper” Peck III. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Stephen “Poppy” Savino; her greatest blessings, her children, Stephen “TJ” Savino and wife Ashley and Nicole Spinnato and husband Sal; and her precious grandchildren Stephen, Anthony and Cayden Savino, and Gianna and Salvatore Spinnato. She also leaves behind her sisters Betty Filkins (Richard), Margaret Zibura (Frank) and her estranged brother Steven Peck; and her mother in law, Anna “Nina” Savino and brother-in-law, Vito Savino (Terry). Ruth was formally employed as a receptionist, retail clerk, veterinary assistant and teachers aide. But her favorite job of all was as a stay at home mom and “Mema” for her kids, grandkids and Thomas, Brandon and Ryan Bungay. Ruth was a lifelong lover of all critters, furry and feathered. She loved caring for her family, camping, boating, kayaking, ATV’s, hosting family dinners, The Great Sacandaga Lake, bonfires, cooking and “Perdy sunsets”. She was also a member of the Westerlo Reformed Church, Hilltown Senior Citizens, Westerlo Fire Co. Auxiliary and the Westerlo Rural Cemetery committee. Special shout out to Dr. Rufus Collea, Andrea Breen, and Chris Allen. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 20th from 11am to 1pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by a funeral service at 1pm. She will then be buried in Westerlo Rural Cemetery.
