Ms Phuong-Mai Nguyen is Associate Professor at AMSIB where she has been working since 2008. She does research on, and teaches Cross-Cultural Management and Middle East studies.

Phuong-Mai Nguyen involves in diverse research projects. Her research interests include Diversity Management, Asian corporate culture, Middle East and Islamic culture, Face-work negotiation, and Instructional Design. She sits on several research advisory boards, including ELLTA (Leadership and Learning in the Asian century).

Phuong-Mai Nguyen holds a Master in Educational Science and Curriculum Design from Twente University, and a PhD in Intercultural Communication from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Before taking the academic path, she took part in various training and fellowships such as journalism programs at World Press Institute (USA), BBC (Thailand) and Reuter (UK).

With her own company Culture Move, she works closely to many businesses and companies to whom she delivers tailor-made training programs. She co-designed various business simulation tools such as Cultural Detective® and Diversophy® which are frequently used in corporate training programs. Since 2015, she also coaches diverse governmental bodies on Radicalization.

Phuong-Mai Nguyen started her career as a journalist in Vietnam and became managing editor for a mainstream newspaper. She is still working as a freelance writer and her work has appeared on BBC, Jerusalem Post, Islamic Monthly, The Big Round Table, Illume, Your Middle East among others. Her fourth book was released in March 2014, detailing an intellectual account while conducting a journey through the Middle East, tracing the path of Islam from where it began, city by city, westwards to Africa and eastwards to Asia.
