  • Phi-Nga Jeannie Le, MD is one of about 120 physicians in the U.S. who is ACGME-accredited Fellowship trained in and Board Certified by The American Board of Medical Specialty (ABMS) – American Board of Preventive Medicine in the specialty of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, which is a two-part field: (1) The therapeutic use of oxygen under high pressure to treat diseases and conditions such as decompression sickness (“the bends”), arterial gas embolism, delayed radiation effects and injuries, threatened or compromised flaps and grafts, complex microangiopathic wounds, ocular and auditory emergencies, deadly necrotizing infections, and much more; and (2) The study of extreme underwater environments, immersion effects, marine life injuries, and diving-related issues. She is additionally trained at DMAC/EDTC (Diving Medical Advisory Committee and European Diving Technology Committee) Medical Level 2D for medical management of diving accidents and illnesses.

    Dr. Le authored hyperbaric medicine practice textbook subject chapters. She published original articles and co-authored papers in the undersea and hyperbaric medicine scientific literature. She has a special interest in ending and preventing hyperbaric oxygen therapy health care fraud and has consulted on federal health care fraud cases.

    Dr. Le is the Medical Director of the UTMB Health Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Clinic located in League City. She holds faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Among her other work is serving on various committees in national scientific and medical societies. She is the Diving Medical Advisor for a number of diving programs and conducts recreational, scientific, public safety, NOAA, and commercial diver physicals.
