Kihyun (기현) is a South Korean singer-songwriter under Starship Entertainment. He is the main vocalist of the boy group MONSTA X and a member of the project group, Y TEEN.

He made his official solo debut with the single album “Voyager” on March 15, 2022.

Career

2014–2015: NO.MERCY and MONSTA X

Kihyun participated in the Mnet reality survival show NO.MERCY, in which trainees competed to be a part of Starship Entertainment’s next boy group. Kihyun remained until the last episode, during which it was announced he had made it to the final lineup. He subsequently made his debut with the group, called MONSTA X, on May 15, 2015 with the mini album Trespass.[1]

2016: King of Mask Singer

On January 3, he appeared on King of Mask Singer as ‘Tell Them I’m The Dragon King’. He sang “Seoul Moon” by Kim Gun Mo.[2]

2022: Solo debut with “Voyager”, upcoming comeback

On February 19, MONSTA X’s social media accounts unveiled a new logo motion teaser for Kihyun. The next day, it was revealed that he would be releasing his first solo single album “Voyager” on March 15.[3]

On September 14, a source from Starship Entertainment revealed that Kihyun is in the final stage of preparations with his first-ever comeback for his second solo album, aiming for a release by the end of October.[4]
