Biography
As a kid, Antonio Banderas wanted to become a professional football (soccer) player until he had a broken bone of his foot when he was 15 years old. He went on to join in some drama classes, eventually joining a theater troupe that toured all over Spain. His work in the theater, and his performances on the streets, eventually landed him a spot with the National Theatre of Spain.
Antonio’s first film appearance was in Pestañas postizas, a 1982 Spanish film, but did not start acting in American films until 1991. Popularity came to Banderas since his appetence in Philadelphia (1993).
His voice role as Puss in Boots in Shrek 2, Shrek the Third and the last film in the Shrek franchise, Shrek Forever After, helped make the character popular on the family film circuit. He voiced Puss not only in English and Spanish, but, starting by Shrek the Third, he also started voicing him in Italian, because Massimo Rossi voiced as Puss in Shrek 2 in Italian.
