YouTube is ready to get its Game On with an interactive live streaming event – Tubefilter

YouTube has spent the summer signing some of the biggest names in the gaming world. Now that it has assembled a formidable lineup of streaming talent, the video platform is inviting a cross-section of its creative community to pick up their controllers. On August 27, YouTube will host Game On, a live streaming event that will feature star-studded competitions among the platform’s biggest stars.

The Game On lineup is absolutely stacked. Confirmed participants include some of the creators who have recently signed exclusive streaming contracts with YouTube Gaming, including Myth and Sykkuno. They’ll be joined by controller kings and queens with massive subscriber counts, including Dream (30 million subscribers), Markiplier (33 million subscribers), and LDShadowLady (6.9 million subscribers). An additional subset of Game On stars are well-rounded creators who dabble in gaming; those who turn in can expect appearances from Larray and Sidemen.

Some of these big-name personalities appear in the official teaser for Game On. The brief video describes the late-August gathering as “a live event where you can play along.”

So what exactly will all this YouTube-based talent get up to at 4 PM ET on the 27th? The answer to that question, according to a press release from YouTube, includes a number of competitions that will combine popular YouTube formats with some popular video games from the past, present, and future.

For example: Sean Evans will translate his beloved interview show Hot Ones for a gaming audience. Participants in Hot Ones Challenge: Video Gamer Faceoff will brawl each other in the upcoming fighting game Street Fighter VI. The loser of each match will have to digest a very spicy hot wing (of course).

Other items on the Game On itinerary include horror game scares in real life (YouTube’s been working with that concept for a while now) and a Poppy Playtime segment that will give seniors a chance to try out the popular, bizarre title. The action will play out across five different streams, each one in a different language. For chat and polling features, the input of the English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish audiences will be combined.

So yeah: Game On is going to be quite the party. YouTube itself is billing the shindig as its “biggest gaming special ever.” To see if Game On lives up to the hype, tune into the event’s official stream on August 27.
