PARK Tae Gyun – Harvard-Yenching Institute

Park Tae Gyun is an associate professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University. He is also Director of the International Center for Korean Studies at SNU and an adviser for the South Korean Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He received his PhD from Seoul National University with a dissertation on “Origins of the Koreas’ Development Plans in the 1950s and 1960s”. He was a Visiting Fellow at the Harvard-Yenching Institute from 1997-1999, and a HYI Coordinate Research Scholar from 2007-2008. His most recent book is An Ally and Empire, Two Myths in the US-Korean Relationship, 1945-1980 (2012, AKS Press). His most recent research focuses on the Vietnam War.
