FERI

Embassy Logistic Terms: FERI

A number of countries in Africa, among which the Democratic Republic Congo, require a waiver document for all import shipments. For example, a FERI or Fiche Électronique des Renseignements à l’Importation is required for all shipments going to Democratic Republic Congo (Congo-Kinshasa). This way the authorities in Democratic Republic Congo have access to all information in the “pre-arrival phase”.

The information contained in the waiver document, is as follows; Shipper and consignee names, mode of transport, description of the cargo and its value, name of the transport vessel and the cost of shipment. The authorities in the country of destination must be in possession of the waiver document prior to arrival of the vessel.

Each country has their own regulations for waiver documentation and in fact, some countries have a different name for the document.

The ports in Democratic Republic Congo for which a FERI is required are:

  • Matadi
  • Kinshasa
  • Lubumbashi
  • Boma
