Dr Lily Chen – Eyecon Optometry

Dr. Lily Chen’s journey in optometry began during her undergraduate studies at UCLA while volunteering at the UCLA Stein Eye institute. Dr. Chen then received her doctoral degree from UC Berkeley School of Optometry with rotation experience at the VA Central California Health Care System, Alameda Health System – Hayward, VA Livermore Medical Center, and the UCSF-UCB Berkeley Outpatient Clinic.

Dr. Chen has always enjoyed working with children whether it is serving in the children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher at her local church or training her pediatric patients in vision therapy. Her interest in pediatric eye care led her to pursue a postdoctoral residency in Pediatrics, Vision Therapy, and Neuro-Optometry at Dr. Derek Tong’s Center for Vision Development Optometry in Pasadena (affiliated with Southern California College of Optometry at MBKU). During residency, Dr. Chen worked with numerous patients with eye turns, lazy eyes, visual perceptual problems and learning issues. Dr. Chen sees patients primarily at our Reseda office.

One interesting fact about Dr. Chen is that her connection with Eyecon and a career path in optometry began after she was fitted for Ortho-K lenses at Eyecon. In her own words, “My Ortho-K lenses literally changed my life. My myopia stopped progressing and I no longer had to deal with the hassle of wearing glasses. My lenses have definitely become a life essential and I hope to make a difference in my patients’ lives and provide them with the best care possible just like I have experienced.”

In her free time, Dr. Chen enjoys traveling, playing piano, and watching Chinese shows with her family.  Dr. Chen also loves dogs, especially an Instagram Cavachon dog named Andy from Japan (ask her for Andy’s pictures).
