About — Yiwei Lu
Yiwei Lu is Los Angeles-based artist, curator, filmmaker, and writer. She was born and raised in China. At the age of 18, she moved to Los Angeles and attended Loyola Marymount University to study film production and photography. She then continued to pursue a Master’s degree in Visual Anthropology at the University of Southern California. Lu mainly practices documentary filmmaking and fine art photography as her art media now.
As a curator, Lu strives to highlight the works of primarily Asian and female artists, photographers, and multi-media creatives through outside-the-box approaches. Since 2019, Lu has curated more than at different galleries in Los Angeles and established a presence at art fairs. In 2021, she founded her own art space, Yiwei Gallery, on Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice Beach.
Lu is dedicated to documenting her conversations with artists, curators, book publishers, collectors, and all kinds of people in the art world, and publishes them in magazines. she has published more than 30 articles about art, the art market, and collecting.
