Xabi Alonso leaves role as manager of Real Sociedad B – The Athletic

Xabi Alonso has left his role as manager of Real Sociedad B.

A club statement from Real Sociedad on Twitter read: “Xabi Alonso will not continue at La Real next season.

“The club’s doors will always remain open so that we can bring our paths back together again. See you soon Xabi.”

The former Liverpool midfielder finished 19th with Real Sociedad B in the second division of Spanish football this season.

Alonso has impressed during his time at the club, winning promotion to the Segunda Division last season and watching a number of young players from his side debut with Sociedad’s first team during his tenure.

Following retirement from his playing career, Alonso spent a season coaching Real Madrid’s under-14s side and won the league while completing his coaching badges.
