Bruna Marquezine & More Join the Cast of DC’s ‘Blue Beetle’

Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine is joining the cast of DC’s Blue Beetle according to The Wrap. This superhero movie stars Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña as lead Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle and is being highly anticipated because of its Latine lead.

Marquezine posted on her social media a reaction to when producer John Rickard revealed that she was set to join Blue Beetle as Jenny, the female lead and love interest of Jaime, in the HBO Max production. The young star shed tears of joy and told her fans: “Dream big!”

A native from the Duque de Caxias region in Rio de Janeiro, Marquezine had her start in 2000 in a kid’s show from TV Globo named Gente Inocente. Three years later she joined Women in Love, her first telenovela at the same TV station. And through her continued work on Snakes & Lizards, God Save the King, and America, she’s transformed into a leading lady.

“To be honest, I think it hasn’t hit me yet,” shared Marquezine in her Instagram account explaining how amazed she was for being “a Brazilian in a DC superhero movie.” Blue Beetle is a chance for this growing talent to join other successful Brazilian actors in Hollywood like Alice Braga, Morena Baccarin, and Rodrigo Santoro.

Alongside Marquezine, Latine talents Belissa Escobedo and Harvey Guillén were added to the cast. Escobedo, who is playing Izzy in Hocus Pocus 2, is set to play Jaime’s younger sister Milagros Reyes. And Guillén, best known for What We Do in the Shadows, and his role are currently under wraps.
