22. Tomas Kalas
The 27-year-old penned a four-year contract in BS3 after City beat off competition from several clubs for his signature.
Kalas was on loan at Ashton Gate from Chelsea during the 2018/19 season and instantly became a popular and dominant figure at the heart of City’s defence.
After signing for Chelsea in 2010, Kalas rejoined former side Sigma Olomouc before spending two seasons at Vitesse Arnhem.
He spent the first of two loan spells at FC Cologne before he was recalled to his parent club and made his Chelsea debut in a 2-0 win against Arsenal in October 2013. He would return to the German club on loan though, before he was loaned to Middlesbrough, where Kalas helped the Smoggies reach the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship in 2015/16.
He then spent the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns with Fulham, who he also helped win promotion to the top flight.
Despite being forced to watch from the sidelines for parts of the 2019/20 season through injury, the Czech Republic international featured 24 times for the Robins, contributing to three clean sheets.
Kalas was appointed City’s new club captain ahead of the first Sky Bet Championship match on September 12th 2020.
The Czech Republic International has made 146 appearances for the Robins and featuring in 37 games in the latest season (2021/22).
