Antonio Cannavaro joined the NJCAA National Office in January 2021 as the Championship Associate in the Championship Division. Cannavaro is a Wisconsin attorney with a passion for College Athletics and Operations in particular. Cannavaro has spent the last four years either running championship events in the Pacific Southwest for the West Coast Conference or in the Great Lakes for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. During Law School, Cannavaro was a Compliance and Athletics Intern at Northern Illinois University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and also an Extern at the NCAA National Office within the Office of the Committees on Infractions. Prior to Law School, Cannavaro was a four-year men’s basketball manager for Arizona State University and a play-by-play announcer.

When not working, the Providence, RI native can be found either watching his New England Area Professional Sports Teams, exploring the local restaurant scene, spending time outdoors, plane spotting, or most importantly continuing his search for the best cookie skillet/sandwich in the United States. Currently, Cannavaro has tried a cookie skillet or sandwich in 20 states and looks forward to seeing what North Carolina has to offer.

Cannavaro is excited and eager to experience the fortress hub that is Charlotte Douglas International Airport, exploring the wide range of elevations and landscapes North Carolina has to offer, traveling and experiencing states apart of the NJCAA membership, and developing relationships with NJCAA members.

At the NJCAA National Office, Cannavaro serves as the primary championships contact for Division III sports including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s track and field, and volleyball.  Cannavaro also serves as the primary championships contact for men’s and women’s bowling, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and men’s and women’s tennis.  In addition to his responsibilities with championships, Cannavaro plays an integral role in assisting with coaches associations and governance.
