Kyo

French rock music isn’t something that I’ve ever listened to, because naively I thought that the language barrier would stop me from connecting with the tracks. Of course I was wrong, and after seeing Kyo live, I’ve now invested in several of their records, and am thoroughly enjoying their alternative pop/rock sound. Although yes, the lyrics are in French, especially in a live show it’s easy to understand the narrative through their fantastic performance and dedication to the lyrics.

They opened the show with L’Or De Nos Vies which lead singer Benoit wrote back in 2006 for AIDS charities, and it was a great reminder of the wonderful work they’ve done over the years. Despite their hiatus in mid 2000, they performed tight as ever, and Florian and Fabian did some awesome onstage instrumental battles with each other which had everyone cheering along.

The entire band were full of energy, and had everyone dancing along from start to finish, and kept waving their arms in the air to encourage us to keep going and sing along. They played a great selection of tracks, and ended with their awesome single L’equilibre. It was a great set, and they’re all very talented musicians.
